About Dong Do IVF Center
Dong Do IVF Center is a specialist assisted-reproduction unit on the fifth floor of Dong Do Hospital at 5 Xa Dan, Hanoi. The centre brings fertility assessment, reproductive medicine, andrology, gynaecology and embryology laboratory work into one hospital-based pathway. It publishes services for people beginning an infertility investigation as well as patients considering IUI, IVF, ICSI, fertility preservation or treatment after an earlier unsuccessful cycle.
The unit is open 07:30–17:00 every day from Monday to Sunday. Because fertility testing and monitoring often have to occur on particular cycle days, seven-day opening can be practical. It does not remove the need for an appointment: international patients should contact the centre before travelling and confirm when both partners need to attend.
Beginning with both partners, not a predetermined procedure
An infertility consultation should identify the likely cause before choosing a treatment. Dong Do publishes female reproductive assessment, gynaecological examination, ultrasound, ovarian-reserve testing and evaluation of the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. Its current material also lists male reproductive assessment, semen analysis and more specialised testing when clinically indicated.
The centre offers HyFoSy, an ultrasound technique using foam contrast to assess the uterine cavity and tubal patency, as well as conventional investigations. HyFoSy is not automatically appropriate for everyone. A clinician should decide which test is suitable after considering pregnancy possibility, infection risk, previous surgery and the clinical question.
Bring previous hormone results, ultrasound reports, semen analyses, operative notes, pregnancy records and summaries from earlier IUI or IVF cycles. The centre says results from the preceding six months may be considered, but acceptance depends on the test and clinical context. Ask which reports can be reviewed before arrival and which must be repeated in Hanoi.
From IUI to IVF and ICSI
Published treatment routes include intrauterine insemination (IUI) and in-vitro fertilisation (IVF). IUI places prepared sperm in the uterus around ovulation and may be considered in selected cases when the clinical conditions are suitable. IVF involves ovarian stimulation, egg retrieval, fertilisation in the laboratory, embryo culture and embryo transfer. ICSI injects one sperm into an egg and may be added when the team identifies an appropriate indication.
The centre’s laboratory information describes blastocyst culture, time-lapse embryo monitoring, Piezo-ICSI and laser-assisted hatching. A technology name does not show that it improves the outcome for every patient. Ask why an additional laboratory technique is recommended, what evidence applies to the individual case, whether it changes the total price and what would happen without it.
Monitoring dates can change according to ovarian response. Travellers should avoid inflexible flights during stimulation and ask how much time to allow in Hanoi. Confirm who gives medication instructions, where injections are obtained, how the centre communicates urgent changes and whether a fresh or frozen embryo transfer is being planned.
Male infertility and sperm retrieval
Dong Do’s official information places andrology within the fertility pathway. It publishes semen analysis, genetic investigations in selected severe male-factor cases, sperm freezing and Micro-TESE for surgical sperm retrieval. Micro-TESE is a specialist procedure used in particular forms of azoospermia; it is not a routine step for low sperm count.
Before arranging surgery, ask which hormonal, genetic and imaging tests are required, who performs the procedure and what anaesthesia is used. The couple should understand how retrieved tissue or sperm will be examined and stored, whether ICSI is planned on the same day, and what alternatives exist if usable sperm is not found. Recovery time and follow-up should be discussed before booking travel home.
Men providing a semen sample should request the centre’s current abstinence interval, collection instructions and identification requirements. Do not rely on a generic interval from another laboratory. If a sample must be transported rather than produced onsite, timing and temperature rules require direct confirmation.
Embryo testing, freezing and preservation decisions
The centre publishes preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), embryo freezing, egg freezing, sperm freezing and frozen-embryo transfer. PGT may be considered for defined genetic or reproductive indications, but it does not guarantee pregnancy or a child without health problems. Ask which type of PGT is proposed, what condition or chromosome question it addresses, the possibility of inconclusive or mosaic results and whether genetic counselling is included.
Cryopreservation creates obligations beyond the first treatment cycle. Request written information about storage fees, renewal, maximum storage periods, consent if a couple separates or one person dies, and the process for future use or disposal. Patients intending to move material across borders should ask about Vietnamese rules, receiving-clinic requirements and specialist courier arrangements before assuming export is possible.
Egg freezing is presented as a fertility-preservation option, but the number and quality of eggs vary with age and ovarian response. A consultation should explain the likely number of stimulation cycles, medication and retrieval costs, storage charges and the later costs of thawing, ICSI, embryo culture and transfer. Marketing language such as “insurance” for future fertility should not be interpreted as a guaranteed live birth.
Published costs need an individual quotation
Dong Do’s 2026 guidance describes IVF costs broadly in the VND 80–150 million range, depending on biological factors, medicines and laboratory procedures. It also advertises fixed-price packages, while separate official articles show itemised fees for IUI, ICSI, embryo culture, freezing and frozen transfer. Package names and inclusions have changed between published pages, so a current written quotation is more reliable than an older headline price.
Ask the centre to distinguish consultations, blood tests, ultrasound, stimulation medicine, anaesthesia, egg retrieval, IVF or ICSI, embryo culture, PGT, freezing, storage and transfer. Confirm what happens financially if stimulation is cancelled, no eggs are retrieved, fertilisation does not occur or transfer is postponed. “All-inclusive” should be supported by a list of inclusions and exclusions.
Private insurance should not be assumed to cover fertility treatment. The centre does not publish a general insurance-acceptance rule for this unit. Contact the insurer before treatment and request written confirmation for the exact diagnostic tests or procedures. Keep itemised invoices and clinical reports if reimbursement may be available.
Current team and hospital setting
The official roster identifies BSCKII Tăng Đức Cương as director of Dong Do IVF Center and medical director of Dong Do Hospital. It also lists reproductive-medicine doctors, obstetricians, andrologists and embryologists, including laboratory leadership by MSc Phùng Thị Sơn and PhD Đỗ Mạnh Hưng. Rosters and appointment schedules can change, so confirm the treating clinician rather than booking solely around a biography.
Being located within Dong Do Hospital can help when another specialty needs to assess a medical condition before fertility treatment. It does not mean every hospital service or emergency charge is part of an IVF package. Ask which care is delivered directly by the centre, which is billed by the hospital and where to go if an urgent problem occurs after hours.
Planning a visit from outside Vietnam
The centre is at 5th Floor, 5 Xa Dan Street, Dong Da District, Hanoi. Its current published contacts are hotline 1900 1965, extension 5, telephone 024 7300 6565, mobile 088 618 6565 and email dongdoivfcenter@gmail.com. Write the full international number format when contacting from abroad and ask which channel is monitored for clinical questions rather than general reservations.
Although the centre describes treating people from several countries, its website does not clearly guarantee English interpretation at every appointment. Request an English-speaking coordinator or arrange a qualified medical interpreter. Consent for stimulation, egg retrieval, embryo procedures, genetic testing and storage deserves precise communication rather than informal translation.
Ask in advance about passports, marriage documents and any certified Vietnamese translations needed for the intended treatment. Rules may differ for donated gametes, embryo use and other legally regulated pathways. Do not make donor or cross-border arrangements through an intermediary without written confirmation from the centre and, where appropriate, independent legal advice.
Vietnam Clinic’s overview of fertility and IVF clinics in Vietnam can help compare locations and practical questions. The useful comparison is not a promotional success percentage: it is the diagnosis, proposed protocol, laboratory plan, total cost, legal eligibility, communication and follow-up offered for the individual case.
After procedures and when urgent care is needed
Before egg retrieval or embryo transfer, obtain written instructions about fasting, medicines, transport home and the emergency contact. Seek prompt assessment for severe or worsening abdominal pain, heavy bleeding, fainting, breathing difficulty, chest pain, rapid abdominal swelling, markedly reduced urination or persistent vomiting. These symptoms can have several causes and should not be managed through promotional chat alone.
Patients returning overseas should request a treatment summary, medication list, laboratory and embryo report, storage documentation and follow-up plan. Confirm which results can be reviewed remotely and who will coordinate care with a clinician at home. Pregnancy testing and early ultrasound still require an agreed schedule, even when the patient feels well.
No clinic can promise an individual outcome from IVF, IUI or another intervention. Age, diagnosis, ovarian reserve, sperm factors, embryo development and uterine health all affect the pathway. A sound decision begins with a documented assessment and a treatment plan that explains both the potential benefits and the limitations.
