A full-service hospital rather than an outpatient clinic

FV Hospital is a private multidisciplinary hospital in Ho Chi Minh City, located at 6 Nguyen Luong Bang Street in Tan My Ward. Its departments cover routine consultations as well as diagnostics, surgery, maternity care, intensive care and emergency treatment. This breadth matters for international residents because a patient can begin with family medicine or a specialist consultation and, when clinically necessary, continue to imaging, laboratory testing, an operation or inpatient observation within the same hospital system.

The published clinical directory includes family medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics and neonatology, obstetrics and gynaecology, cardiology, gastroenterology, dermatology, ophthalmology, ENT, orthopaedics and hand surgery, neurology, neurosurgery and spine surgery, oncology, urology, pulmonology and vascular surgery. Diagnostic and support departments include imaging and interventional radiology, nuclear medicine, laboratory and blood-bank services, physiotherapy and intensive care. The hospital also describes dedicated centres for breast care, diabetes, adult vaccination and sports medicine.

FV reports that it has held Joint Commission International accreditation across four consecutive accreditation cycles from 2016 to 2025. Accreditation is useful context when comparing hospital systems, but it does not replace checking whether the particular department, doctor and planned treatment suit an individual case.

Choosing the right entry point

For a non-urgent concern, the main appointment number is (028) 35 11 33 33. Patients can also request an appointment through FV's online booking route or its official Zalo channel. Someone who is uncertain which specialty to choose can start with family or internal medicine; a clearly defined problem may be booked directly with the relevant department. Bringing previous scans, laboratory results, prescriptions and a concise medical history can reduce duplication and help the clinician understand what has already been investigated.

The emergency department has a separate 24-hour number, (028) 35 11 35 00. Severe chest pain, difficulty breathing, major trauma, loss of consciousness, stroke warning signs or uncontrolled bleeding should not wait for an ordinary outpatient slot. Preparing an appointment or admission

International patients should confirm the exact campus or department, appointment time, doctor and any preparation instructions before travelling. Tests such as endoscopy, some blood work and procedures involving sedation may require fasting, medication adjustments or an accompanying adult. Those instructions must come from the treating team; patients should not stop prescription medicine on their own. A passport or other identification, insurance card, current medication list and relevant records are sensible items to carry.

For a planned admission, ask for a written cost estimate and clarify what it includes. Surgeon, anaesthesia, implants, medicines, pathology, imaging, room choice and follow-up can be billed differently. FV's patient information explains that discharge documents can include the medical report, prescriptions and supporting paperwork. Requesting copies before leaving is particularly useful for patients who will continue care abroad or submit their own reimbursement claim.

Insurance, deposits and direct billing

FV has an insurance-assistance office for Vietnamese social health insurance and private or international policies. Direct billing is not automatic: it depends on the insurer, plan, treatment type and a valid guarantee of payment. Even when an insurer appears among FV's billing partners, outpatient and inpatient arrangements may differ. Deductibles, co-payments, exclusions, non-covered items and charges above the policy limit remain the patient's responsibility.

Before the visit, have the insurer name, policy number, membership card and type of cover ready. For a scheduled admission, FV advises contacting its insurance team several days in advance so that pre-authorisation can be sought. Remote care, home visits and follow-up

FV Anywhere extends selected services beyond the hospital through teleconsultations and home-care visits performed by FV staff. These routes can be useful for follow-up, mobility constraints or an initial discussion when travelling to the hospital is difficult. They are not substitutes for physical examination, hospital diagnostics or emergency care. FV states that telemedicine and home-care appointments require advance payment. Direct billing is not available for teleconsultations, although the hospital can prepare documents for a patient to claim reimbursement from an insurer.

After treatment, patients should leave with clear instructions covering medicines, wound or symptom monitoring, review dates and who to contact if the condition changes. For expatriates, it is also worth asking whether reports can be issued in a form suitable for an overseas doctor or insurer.
